Trauma Informed Yoga | Open to ELAWC clients and staff (In-Person)

Yoga for adults utilizing a trauma-informed lens. Techniques such as mind-body, self-regulation to develop self-awareness, presence within situations triggering emotional reactivity, and the ability to calm the nervous system.  Participants will learn yoga and mindfulness tools, such as various breathing techniques for calming the mind, poses to strengthen the body and simple meditation techniques to build resilience.  

- Practice mindfulness techniques in a safe space
- Learn the importance of breath as it relates to movement
- Begin a personal practice for self-regulation and relaxing the nervous system 

Participants will need the following materials for the workshop (alternative items as substitutions):

- Comfortable attire for free movement
- Yoga mats (open floor space) are provided, but you are free to bring you your own as well 
- A beach towel or blanket
- A journal and pen
