Awareness is only the beginning.
Since 1976, ELAWC has created spaces where survivors can be heard, believed, and supported. What began as a grassroots response to violence in our community has grown into five decades of trauma-informed, culturally responsive services designed to meet survivors where they are and support their individual paths toward safety and healing.
This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, as we commemorate ELAWC’s 50th anniversary, we honor the courage and resilience of survivors, remember the lives lost to domestic violence, and recognize the advocates, Promotoras, staff, volunteers, partners, and community members who have carried this work forward across generations.
Fifty years later, our commitment continues. We listen. We act. We rise.
