Domestic Violence Awareness Month

For 45 years, East Los Angeles Women’s Center has been a place of peace and refuge for women and families who have entered our doors looking for answers, hope, and justice, where their silence is heard.  Our work is only possible thanks to our service providers, staff, advocates, promotorasand supporters who believe in us to be a vessel of change providing culturally specific services and solutions to the community we serve.

Domestic violence or intimate partner violence is defined as a pattern of abusive behavior in a relationship by one partner, with the intent of gaining or maintaining power and control over another person. Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that impact another person.

How can you make a difference this DVAM?

1. Please continue sharing ELAWC as a resource in the community.  Since 1976, ELAWC has offered a safe environment where survivors can receive a range of services that are trauma informed and culturally responsive. If you or anyone you know needs help please contact our 24/7 Bilingual Hotline: 800.585.6231

 2. This year we virtually join The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence to raise awareness and remind our community #WeAreResilient            #SomosResilientes. Follow us on social media for resources, affirmations and awareness. (@elawc) Repost and share, we want to know your story!

 3. Donate and continue to fund a path to permanent housing to DV survivors and families with our Safe Homes Fund
